May 14, 2010 - I got the PSN Update & saw it so I'm downloading it now. Well I believe they released a World of Outlaws 2002 for PC. Basicly a port of the Ps2 verison. Its nothing like the first World of Outlaws Sprint Cars for the PC.
It's all out, wheel-to-wheel, dirt in your face, sprintcar racing action. Hit speeds in excess of 170 mph. Powerslide around tight ovals. Compete in single races, a championship season, or an entire career. Featuring 24 official World of Outlaws drivers, 12 real tracks, jaw-dropping graphics, screaming 3D directional sound and car physics so real it will turn your world upside down. Do you have what it takes to master the meanest machines on wheels?
The game is a racing car simulation where you will be racing in the outlaws against a tough chunk of racers. The tracks in the game are very much unique in the sense that they have their distinct racing dynamics in the form of curves and turns that invite a very challenging experience. The game involves single races, a carrier mode and a championship mode as well. In the single race mode you will be racing as one of the 24 racers and will go on different venues for the action. The game physics is perfect for a racing game and the cars are very speedy as they clock up to 170 mph. The level deigns in the game are non-repetitive and the elements that it involves are close to realism of the racing world. The controls for the cars can be easily managed via both the joystick and the keyboard and the interface has a very simple control and design to let you play the game. The graphics are average but good enough to bear because the gameplay action is very addictive. Beginners will love it and veterans will also enjoy it. Test Drive 6 should be the one to try after you have thoroughly enjoyed this one.

I'm not sure if the new version of the WoO sprint cars came out on PS3 or not. I know it came out on Xbox and if you're looking to upgrade...I would recommend Xbox. The controllers are far superior IMHO and the better games have Xbox exclusive contracts.
Maybe WoO 2002 is the best game for PS2 or PS3 but it is certainly not the best overall. Nothing comes even close to rfactor for PC. I am not knocking the WoO 2002 game but the graphics for rfactor absolutely blow away PS2 PS3 or Xbox360 along with the physics of the cars handling. Also the cars are free to add-on, and their is litterally 100's of classes for rfactor (410 sprints, 360 sprints, 305 sprints, Big Block mods, Imca mods, Superlate models, crate late models, pro stocks, all the nascar crap, european sports cars, F1, Indycars etc...) dirt and asphalt racing all free once you have the game. the game is $29.00 check out rfactorcentral.com for alot of info
The newest game is world of outlaw sprint cars 2010, has to be purchased online on your ps3. $19.99 not quite as good as the 2002 game but a hell of a a lot better than Road to knoxville and showdown at Eldora. plus you can play up to 8 players online.
